Concert raised $10,000!

The concert raising funds for relief in Haiti which I mentioned and which was written up in the paper (haven’t figured out hyperlink – here’s the link: http://tinyurl.com/yc66l74) raised $10,000! It was a beautiful night of talent, with everything from middle school jazz band to the Haitian master drummer Frisner Augustin who came down special from Brooklyn – and jammed out spontaneously during my performance, along with me! Stay tuned for more collaborations with this powerfully talented drummer and NEA Heritage Fellow, an amazing link to Haitian and African lineage. What an honor. Next project: collecting tents for the rainy season in Haiti. It’s urgent – I’ll keep you updated as I find out more. Special thanks to Dr. Lois Wilcken who made all the details of the trip happen, to Cantor Amy Levy and of course my amazing partner Rabbi Kevin Kleinman who followed up on every little thing and led the volunteers as well as so much else with his usual grace and kindness.
